ASA Miami Releases 2018 Schedule for Women's Soccer

HIALEAH, FL. - Second year head coach David Luna leads the way for the Silver Storm competing in the tough FCSAA/Region VIII conference. ASA will play a home-and-home with fellow conference opponents - Broward College, Polk State College, Daytona State College and Eastern Florida State College. Eastern Florida (4) and Daytona State (13) finished the 2017 season ranked in the NJCAA Division I National Top 20. Last year, Eastern Florida won the conference and advanced to the District H Championships, despite Daytona State getting the best of them during regular season play.

Coach Luna believes his team is much improved from last season and is excited to see them play. "We have a strong recruiting class coming in this year." Luna shared. "We have developed some depth and I believe we have a well-rounded group."

Luna has an impressive 2018 signing class thats expected to come in and make an impact right away. Highlighting that group are three girls who played for their countries national team last season. Ivana Slipcevic leads that group and played last season for the Croatian national team. Croatia qualified for the 2017 World Cup and Slipcevic played in two games during the qualifying round vs. Sweden and Ukraine. Valentina Restrepo and Alejandra Hurtado both played for the Colombian national team in 2017. Coach Luna believes the newcomers are meshing well with the returners from last season. Sophomore goalkeeper, Noemy Franco is looking to continue her success from last season after she was named to the 2017 NJCAA All-Region VIII first team.
