FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 7, 2019
HIALEAH, FL – While the 2018-19 season didn't pan out the way ASA Miami's men's soccer team would have liked, the Silver Storm enter 2019-20 season with a clean slate and heightened sense of optimism.
ASA Miami head coach J.C. Gonzalez announced the team's full 2019 schedule Thursday, setting the table for the program's sixth official season.
Although Gonzalez released the schedule Thursday, the slate of matches has some "To Be Determined" holes due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict with ASA Miami's home pitch – Milander Park. The current iteration of the schedule has the Silver Storm playing 12 regular season matches and three preseason exhibitions.
As many as three regular season games can be added to the slate and the times of a handful of ASA's home games could change.
The Silver Storm's exhibitions are set in stone. ASA Miami will take on College Dreamers on August 14 at the Kendall Soccer Park in South Miami; follow that up with an August 17th trip to Temple Terrace, Florida to take on Florida College; and end the preseason with a local road trip to Davie, Florida take on Nova Southeastern University on August 29.
ASA's regular season will kick off on August 31 when the Silver Storm host Florida National University's developmental team.
Gonzalez and company will then hit the road for three straight games. Two of the road games will be in Daytona Beach, Florida as the Silver Storm will take on the University of Bahamas and Andrew College (Ga.) on September 14th and September 15th respectively on a neutral field – at Daytona State College. ASA Miami took on Andrew College this past season in a similar situation – a neutral site game in Daytona – and notched one of its two victories of the 2018 season.
ASA Miami will be the visitor again on September 20 when it travels to local rival Broward College for a 6 p.m. showdown.
September will conclude with a pair of home matches for the Silver Storm. ASA will host conference foes Eastern Florida State College (Sept. 24) and Daytona State College (Sept. 28).
October won't be as friendly to ASA, however.
The Silver Storm will play six games in the first half of the month and five of those games will be on the road. ASA will go to Eastern Florida (Oct. 1) and Daytona State (Oct. 8), then take a trip to Thomasville, Georgia to take on Thomas University's developmental team on Friday, October 11th. On the way back from Georgia, ASA Miami will stop in Daytona Beach again face Georgia Military College on October 13 at Daytona State College. The road slate ends with an Oct. 15 game at Keiser University to take on its developmental team.
ASA's regular season should end at home on October 17 when the Silver Storm hosts Broward College.
Region VIII's regional playoffs will be played October 26 – November 2. The top four seeds in the region will make the bracket with the highest seed hosting each matchup.
