Miami Shores, Fla. - ASA Miami all-time leading scorer Dextor Foster played his best game of the season when his team needed it most. The Sophomore guard hit a huge three pointer with 28 seconds remaining in regulation, giving him a game high; 19 points. Foster's three tied the game at 66 Tuesday night vs. Polk State College, sending both teams into overtime at Barry University. This marked the first time ASA had a game go into overtime this season.
Foster and Dane Williamson each set season highs in scoring with 19 and 17 points respectively. Raven Owen Jr. continues to play well offensively. Owen is averaging 20.2 points per game in his last five games. Owen has made at least two threes in those five games while shooting 46% from the field.
What makes this game even more remarkable is the fact that Polk led by as many as 20 points in the second half. The Silver Storm held the Eagles to 27% shooting and forced 13 turnovers in the second half. ASA outscored Polk 42-24 in the second half and overtime combined. Polk finished with twice as many turnovers (24) as ASA (12) and the Silver Storm converted those into 20 points off turnovers. Polk only had six points off the 12 ASA turnovers.
ASA Miami will open up conference play Wednesday night, January 4th at No. 16|3 Palm Beach State College. Tip-off is set for 7pm in Lake Worth.
