Following a week in which the Silver Storm endured a three-game losing streak, ASA Miami put together one of its best weeks of the season – not only ending the snide but going on a five-game winning streak that included victories over a pair of Division-II programs – as the squad played six games in seven days. The big week ASA Miami set a new program record for most consecutive games with 10 or more runs scored (4) while also tying the program mark for consecutive wins (5). ASA Miami couldn’t set a new record for consecutive wins as the team went up against a hot arm and fell 8-5 to Eastern Florida State College on March 8th. Still, the Silver Storm’s bats were alive all week. Opening the week with an 11-run performance against Trinity International University, followed by outdueling Keiser University 12-11 in a 10-inning score-fest, the Silver Storm then put up 17 runs in back-to-back games against Chestnut Hill University on March 6.

Mar. 2 | Win 11-7, vs. Trinity International University

Mar. 4 | Win 12-11, at Keiser University

+ After trailing 6-1 in the middle of the fourth inning, ASA Miami scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth, added two in each the fifth and sixth innings, and tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 11-7 victory.

+ Six pitchers (Julian Cendejas, Juan Marulanda, Erick Nova, Aneuris Yael Salas-Pena, Brian Herrera, and Wilfran Hernadez) combined to strike out 10 Keiser University batters.

+ All nine batters in the starting lineup recorded hits during ASA Miami’s 12-11 win against Keiser University.

+ Similarly, all nine players in the Silver Storm’s starting lineup all crossed home plate during the team’s first of two 17-4 wins over Chestnut Hill University.

Coach Said It

“It looks like we’re hitting that midseason mode,” ASA Miami head coach Robert Martin said. “The guys are healthy – which is a big thing. I feel like the first 20 games of the season were a learning experience and we’ve had conversations with the guys about what they needed to learn from the first half of the season. Now we’re definitely looking to keep this positive momentum going as we go into the weeks ahead.”
