HIALEAH, FL. -- ASA Miami softball head coach, Geena Capitini announced Tuesday the signings of four student-athletes.
Ashley Alfonso and Erika Castroman from American Senior High School in Hialeah, Florida; Ronald Reagan/Doral High School's Kassandra Roig; and Karina Londono from Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School all penned their letters of intent to join the Silver Storm's softball program.
Alfonso and Castroman helped lead American to a 14-6 record and the District 13-9A championship during the 2018 season. The dynamic duo also helped the Patriots advance to the 9A regional semifinal before falling to Coral Gables High School.
As a pitcher, Alfonso finished her senior season with a 12-6 record with a 2.17 ERA in 90 innings of work. Those numbers were good enough to earn her a spot on the 2018 Miami Herald All-County First Team.
Castroman had one of the better bats on the team for American - posting a .434 batting average (23-53) with 19 RBI and being named 2018 Miami Herald All-County Honorable Mention.
Roig contributed as both a pitcher and hitter during her senior season for Reagan. She hit .312 with 18 RBI, while also striking out 92 batters - also earning Miami Herald All-County Honorable Mention recognition.
Adding Londono means adding another arm to the rotation for the Silver Storm. During her senior season with HML, Londono recorded 45 strikeouts in 51 innings pitched.
"This group of girls has been playing softball together for a long time," Capitini said. "I am happy to see that they chose our program and decided to stay together as they take on this next chapter of their lives. Also, being a part of the inaugural softball class is huge for them, they will have the opportunity to set the culture for this program and for the future ASA players to come."
