ASA Miami freshman sprinter Kimani Gardener earned an invitation to May's NJCAA national championship meet with his performance at the University of Miami Invitational track meet this past weekend in Coral Gables. Gardener recorded the sixth-best time in the 100-meter dash this past Saturday (March 16), clocking in at 10.62 seconds. Gardener joins ASA Miami women's team sophomore Antonella Creazolla as Silver Storm athletes to earn the right to compete in the national championship meet in Hobbs, New Mexico this coming May thanks to their performances in the UM meet. ASA freshman Kevin Vanterpool also turned in an impressive performance over the weekend, finishing sixth in the javelin with a throw of 163-feet, 8-inches. In addition, ASA sophomore Travis Marx finished 15th in the 100-meter dash; Maxwell Zelliner finished 18th overall (20-11.25) in the long jump; freshman Oscar Campos took 15th (15.03) in the 110-meter hurdles and sophomore Onisiforos Anastasiou finished 30th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.78 seconds.
