Men's Tennis Earns Three Awards Prior to NJCAA Tournament

Plano, TX. - The ASA Miami men's tennis team is looking for a third straight crown at the 2018 NJCAA National Tournament in Plano, Texas. Since 2002, Collin County College has hosted the men's tournament. Next year will be the first time in 16 years that the men's tennis champion is not crowned in Plano. The tournament will head to Tucson, Arizona. The 2018 tournament is set to begin tomorrow, May 14 at 8:00 a.m. 

The Silver Storm earned first round byes and won't hit the court until Tuesday, when the second round begins. For the tournament draws and more information regarding the 2018 NJCAA Men's Tennis National Tournament, click here. 

On Sunday night, the International Tennis Association (ITA) partnered with the NJCAA and held their annual awards banquet before the start of the tournament. ASA Miami took home three awards by the end of the night. Head Coach Brian Slack was named Region IV Coach of the Year. Tin Chen earned Sophomore Player of the Year and the team was awarded the ITA Community Service and Outreach Award for their volunteer work around the community.
