ASA Miami fell behind early and was never able to gain any footing as Daytona State College knocked the Silver Storm out in Region VIII play-in game this past Saturday in a 6-1 match at the Daytona State Soccer Complex.
Daytona State, which will face Eastern Florida State College in the Region VIII Conference playoffs, put a pair of goals on the board in the first four minutes of the game.
The lone bright spot of the day for ASA Miami was Alphanso Gooden’s goal in the 11th minute, that cut the Silver Storm’s deficit in half.
The Falcons, who defeated ASA by a combined 8-1 score in two matches this season while also tying 2-2 with the Silver Storm on October 10, pulled away from ASA with two Creggton Charlton goals in the 28th and 42nd minutes then completely put the game out of ASA’s reach by tacking on a pair of goals in the second half.
ASA Miami finishes the season with a 2-7-2 record and 15 goals scored in those 11 matches. However, optimism is high within the program because the team only had six sophomores amongst its 23 varsity players and the Silver Storm coaching staff has more than seven decades of soccer experience combined.
