HIALEAH, FL. - After scoring a career-high 29 points and connecting on a career-high five threes last Friday against Indian River, sophomore guard Anthony Gomes became ASA Miami's all-time leading scorer. Gomes passed Dextor Foster who previously held the top spot with 574 career points. With 10 games remaining this season, Gomes has accumulated 576 career points in his two years with the Silver Storm.
The Kissimmee, Florida native has reached 20 points in a game this season in seven of the 16 games he's played in. Currently, he is averaging 17.1 points-per-game, 4.8 rebounds-per-game and 3.4 assists-per-game. His 17.1 ppg currently ranks him eighth among all Region VIII participants. Gomes has been able to attack the basket all season long and get to the charity stripe. He is averaging seven free throw attempts a game and that ranks him fourth among all Region VIII participants. Earlier this month Gomes was ranked the 39th best JUCO player in the state of Florida by Lineage of Champions.
