Hialeah, FL. - The ASA Miami Men's Basketball team has already shown improvement during their first two games. This season marks their third year competing in the NJCAA. Head Coach Jean Dubuisson and his staff have turned things around quickly after a tough season last year going 3-27.
The Silver Storm won their season opener vs. The Game Changers Academy Tuesday night 76-53. Sophomore guard Raven Owen Jr. led all scorers with 18 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Wednesday night, Florida Southwestern came down to South Florida to open their first season as a first year program. FSW battled it out with ASA Miami for an entertaining and competitive 40 minutes. FSW snuck out with the first win in their programs history 65-59. Sophomore guard Dextor Foster came close to recording the first double-double of the season for ASA with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Coach Dubuisson was disappointed his team couldn't come away with the win against the Buccaneers but did express his satisfaction in how fast his program has turned into a competitive force in Region VIII. "I love the way this team fights. We have a great group of veteran kids that have played in tough games before and will grind it out all season long."
The Silver Storm (1-1) look to pick up their second win of the season next Monday, November 7th. ASA Miami will face off against Baltimore City Community College.
