ASA Miami Falls To Lackawanna College 30-7

The season’s first road trip wasn’t the smooth ride that the Silver Storm had hoped for, falling 30-7 to Lackawanna College (Pa.) Sunday at Jerry Richardson Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

In the first-ever meeting between the two programs, ASA dug itself into a 9-0 hole – thanks to an errant snap on a punt that flew out of the back of the end zone and a subsequent scoring drive by the Falcons – midway through the first quarter and was outscored 21-7 over the final 52 minutes of the game.

The Silver Storm’s lone score of the day came late in the first quarter when Evan Burgess broke through the Falcons’ defense for a 53-yard scoring run.

That would be ASA’s lone bright of the day while Lackawanna (1-0) quarterback Shane McLaughlin threw a pair of touchdown passes while running backs Calvin Bell and Reggie Jean-Charles each ran for a touchdown.

Up Next: The Silver Storm (1-1) come back home where they will host North Florida Prep, Saturday, September 8th at Ted Hendricks Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
