FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 11, 2019

After enduring a seven-day stretch that included a three-game losing snide before closing it out with a much-needed road victory, ASA Miami’s baseball team had an even split of a pair of wins and a pair of losses this past week. The Silver Storm (15-21) carried the momentum of last week’s 12-2 win over Elv8 Academy into this week – winning both games of their same-day doubleheader against St. Thomas University’s JV squad. ASA outhit St. Thomas and had home runs in both games. The same mojo wasn’t there for ASA when it faced Miami Dade College – with the Silver Storm losing on back to back days to the Sharks, largely due to the 22 total strikeouts the team totaled.

Coach Said It

“The pitching got better, that was the big thing,” ASA Miami head coach Robert Martin said. “We’ve been saying for a while that our pitching has had to catch up to the level of our hitting – and I think it took a step towards that this past week. And we’re going to need our pitching to be at the best level possible as we get ready to head into the postseason.”

Player of the Week:

Adrian Perez, 6-15, 5 runs scored, 3 RBI, 2 home runs, and 2 doubles.
