In what seemed like a heavyweight title fight, both teams went back and forth trading blows at one-another. The Sharks would get on the board first in the bottom of the first inning and jump out to 1-0 lead. The Silver Storm would answer right back with four runs in the second inning highlighted by an Onelio Perdomo (Miami, FL/Brito Miami HS) two-run single to left field. ASA was able to hold that lead until the fifth inning when MDC tacked on two run to cut the Silver Storms lead to one. Alex Rodriguez Hialeah, FL/Mater Academy HS) looked to put the game away for ASA after hitting his third home run of the season over the left field fence to extend the ASA lead 5-3. Continuing the trend, MDC would come back and tie at five in the bottom of the eigth inning. However, finally ASA would put the game away for good after freshman Jorge Diaz (Hialeah, FL/Westland Hialeah HS) came up with a two-run single in the 10th. ASA starting pitcher Leudeny Pineda (Azua, Dominican Republic/Romilio Mendez High School) tossed five innings, allowing three runs - two earned on five hits and four strikeouts. Anthony Vazquez (Miami, FL/Miami Coral Park HS) came in relief and pitched five innigs while only allowing two unearned runs.
UP NEXT | ASA Miami will take on St. Thomas University JV next week on Monday for a double-header. First game is set for 5:00 p.m with game two set for approximately 7:30 p.m.
